The sun was slowly sinking down to the bottom of the sea
Mr Jefferson was sleeping, somewhere behind these steps and me
Off in a distant distance, the summers come to haunt again,
Someone's sunset had faded and forgotten what it meant

Someone's sunset had faded in front of me,
Mr Jefferson said, She's still a part of me
Just over the edge there's a light shining somewhere
But you had gone, just as I had gotten there

Mr Jefferson said, this is not the way to spend a day
Watching sunsets slowly fading away
Maybe we can take tomorrow and turn it into yesterday

Fallen footsteps on the floor
Told me that you did not care anymore
So I looked back to sea the sky, the blue and the green
And I wondered what it all means

This sun never seems to set
It dances upon the horizon like the day that we first met
I walked by a swing yesterday and remembered when I pushed you to the sky
And how you used to shine, but baby so did I
I look back and I see a little boy that did not know
What the hell it was behind those shadows
Mr Jefferson said, stars shoot now and then
He catches me falling towards her again

Mr Jefferson said, this is not the way to spend a day
Watching sunsets slowly fading away
Maybe we can take tomorrow and turn it into yesterday

There are things about me that nobody knows
They're the kinds of things that keep me, me
I guess I loved you more then anything
It's wrong to believe in those kinds of things

Mr Jefferson said, this is not the way to spend a day
Watching sunsets slowly fading away
Maybe we can take tomorrow and turn it into yesterday
