Album: The Shadowline

Don't patronise me with your justifications

Resuscitation won't work on me again

It's a waste of breath

Your "mouth-to-mouth" has drowned me

And I don't want to be dragged up for more

Do not come to me pleading for absolution

I have watched your treachery enough times to know

That the die has been cast and I see your game

Please just live your life

Act the parts

Deal the pain

You have made your choice and this is mine

In the light of day things take on a different hue

It is you who have lost me, not I you

Better to have happened now than further down the line

You may talk of friendship

But I have seen your soul

And though I may be many things I am not a fool

I've tried to hold the middle ground, not concede the field

Given the respect I thought that you deserved

Yet the little scene played out in front of me

Has bared a part of you I hoped not to exist

When I look at you now I see you for what you are

I know your true worth

And no, I won't be buying

You've shown your true colours and they're not ones I like

And not ones I would want a friend to wear

You have made your choice and this is mine

In the light of day things take on a different hue

It is you who have lost me, not I you

Better to have happened now than further down the line

You may talk of friendship

But I have seen your soul

And though I may be many things I am not a fool

Vanity and malice cloaked by a beauteous frame

Turmoil mounts inside me at the sound of your name

There can be no peace for me while you are in my sight

To see you again would be an act of self-aimed spite

Though with the wish to see you my heart may often swell

From pain we learn avoidance and you have taught me well

A lesson in trust you have given that I will never forget

For this at least I am truly always in your debt

You have made your choice and this is mine

In the light of day things take on a different hue

It is you who have lost me, not I you

Better to have happened now than further down the line

You may talk of friendship

But I have seen your soul

And though I may be many things I am not a fool

You've shown your colours

Your true colours

Your colours revealed
