Scorching summer nights are
Nothing but cold and empty in space
Suspended above that vast blue and green
Their teeth chatter, their jaw and their face shake

A warm July barbeque
Is a lonely night in this empty void.
A gathering of family and friends
Is a fellow astronaut and an asteroid.

The astronauts' faces remain cold.
And their feet for the remainder of the mission.
They wish it hadn't already begun,
Although it's too late, nothing can be undone.
