Awakened by a cool breeze, and a scream in the distance
The smell of death seemed to lure me here
The moonlight casts a faint glow upon her pallid flesh
I almost overlook the blood pouring from her hair
There she lies in the withering grass as the worms pick away at her decadent skin
The eyes of a pale horse still burn in my mind
Pleading for me to return its poor life
Poor pitiful me, I loved her so much
But some things are better left to rot and die
I run my fingers along her skin, hoping to feel her heart again
I never cared much for you but you saved me from loneliness
And without you I'll be consumed by this growing hole in my chest
I lay with the dead because all I have left is the warmth of a life that once was
And as disgusting as it may seem, it's the only love I've ever known
The eyes of a pale horse still burn in my mind
Pleading for me to return its poor life
Poor pitiful me, I loved her so much
But some things are better left to rot and die
And now she's rotting in my arms
I hold her close as she falls apart
It's so hard to leave her, and so hard to forget
But I know in the end, I'm just beating a dead horse
As she died, so did my purpose
Now I am, just a man, waiting for
