WATCH OUT NOW
TAKE CARE BEWARE
Of thoughts that linger
Winding 'round inside your head
And the pain that often lingers
In the dead of night
In the dead of night
Beware of darkness
WATCH OUT NOW
TAKE CARE BEWARE
Of greedy leaders
Who take you where you should not go
While weeping at the cedars
In the dead of night
In the dead of night
Beware of sadness
It can kill you
It can hurt you
Make you sore
And what is more
That is not what you are here for
WATCH OUT NOW
TAKE CARE BEWARE
Of soft shift shufflers
They're dancin' down the sidewalk
While each unconscious sufferer
Wanders aimlessly
In the dead of night
Beware of darkness - It can kill you
Beware of darkness - It can cut you down
Beware of darkness
Neal Morse:
"Yes, Beware of Darkness was written by George Harrison, the ex-Beatle. It is the first cut on the 'All Things Must Pass' album. [actually, it's the tenth track off the first disc] We decided to open the album with it because of the fanfare beginning, and it's the title track 'cause it sounds cool; and works nicely with 'The Light'. It's been covered by a lot of people including Leon Russell and Concrete Blond, and I had actually never heard the George Harrison version 'til we were mixing our album and the engineer brought it to the studio. I was/am really into the Leon Russell version off the 'Shelter People' album."
