Step back to the tranquility base,
and wonder why anyone would
Spend an entire lifetime on Earth.
It seems ridiculous that we should
Have to breathe in that air,
have to have not a care in the world.
But that world is the one that I long to leave...
Head back to the face
of the planet that seems so cruel.
That forces you to feign happiness,
when the moon is so beautiful...
At those meaningless books I'll stare.
And tell everyone how I've not a care
In the world where real joy can be so rare.
And why anyone would want
to live here is beyond me...
Why anyone would want to
spend their days and nights in indifference or worry.
